The Community Sailing Center was an absolutely perfect place to have our wedding! The vibe was amazing, the view unbeatable, and the space felt both intimate and full of life. Tilly was so helpful and accommodating from start to finish—she was truly a joy to work with. The staff helped quickly transition from an outdoor to indoor ceremony at the last minute due to rain and made what could have been a stressful moment, feel very easy. It was perfect for our tiny wedding (under 30 guests) and I’m sure would be lovely for a bigger one as well! If you’re looking for a Burlington venue that’s beautiful, flexible, and staffed by people who truly care, this is the one.

Intervale Center
Rating: 5.0 (1 review)
Burlington, VT

  • Raw space
  • Indoor
  • Starts at $1,250

Located just a mile from downtown Burlington, the Intervale Center's renovated 1860s Community Barn offers a convenient, rustic, and picturesque setting for your special day. Say your “I do’s” in a quaint ceremony outside on the venue’s gorgeous green grounds surrounded by stunning trees, bushes, and of course, your happy loved ones.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides lighting and sound
  • Raw space for complete customization
  • Unique barn setting

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets
  • No in-house catering options
  • Not wheelchair accessible
I love the Intervale Center, it is so beautiful! I knew that by choosing to get married there in July, we could really cut back on our decorations and let the landscaped grounds really shine. This venue is very conveniently located to Burlington, VT, but doesn't feel like you're in a city. It feels quiet and somewhat secluded. The rental/site fee was very affordable (and what you pay goes to a good cause!) and their guide book/post-booking-brochure is really helpful. They provide tables and chairs which are probably ample if you are having a small shindig, though you will likely want to cover the tables as they are not very pretty! Or you can always rent tables and chairs at additional cost. Most of what they offer is very DIY, so get some friends together (we set up in less than an hour with our friends). Our wedding here was pretty low-key with about 40 guests, but I think this could work for more formal gatherings too. My top of mind words to describe it would be "Pretty, local, affordable".

Our experience at the Essex was 10/10. Our event coordinator was Cindy, who did a phenomenal job guiding us and our wedding planner through the choices to be made and the lay of the land! She was so communicative and was great about answering any and all of my questions (and I had a lot). The banquet and catering team spearheaded by Sydney was fabulous as well; I have celiac disease and it was very important to me that I have a dedicated gluten-free wedding, and Cindy and Sydney made my dreams come true while also navigating our guests varied allergies and dietary restrictions! The food was phenomenal and several of our guests commented on the high quality of the meals. We and our guests also loved that the inn was connected to everything we needed on the property all weekend - we never had to leave the building (which was ideal, given we got married in early March!). The inn is so cozy and cute, and the spa is a wonderful and relaxing bonus. My husband and I have nothing but good things to say about our entire (flawless!) wedding weekend at the Essex, from the rehearsal dinner to the farewell brunch. Photo by Anne Mientka Photography
