About this venue
Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion is an elegant wedding venue in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Conveniently located just 9 miles from downtown DC, it resides on a private 40-acre nature sanctuary. Built in 1927, this historic location was designed by the renowned architect John Russell Pope, who also designed the Jefferson Memorial, DAR Constitution Hall, and the National Archives Building. Environmentally conscious couples will appreciate this venue’s commitment to nature and wildlife preservation, offering a beautiful and sustainable setting for your special day. Part of the rental fee is tax-deductible.

Have your wedding at Woodend and feel good about it!
Your guests can dance the night away in the mansion and enjoy cocktails both indoors and out. The climate-controlled tented terrace, available from April to November, offers a beautiful and accommodating space for your reception. There are 2 staging rooms: one for each of you and your wedding parties. We have a vetted list of 8 approved caterers for you to choose from. You can provide the alcohol, and the caterer will provide the bartenders, set-up, etc.

Woodend was magical for our wedding!
Our wedding was incredible at Woodend. The staff was professional and organized, with clear plans for rain or other contingencies. They were accommodating and kind to us during the process! So happy we had our wedding here, and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you Woodend!

Woodend is Special
We LOVED having our wedding at Woodend! Beatriz was so helpful and answered all of our questions, as well as keeping us updated as the tent set up changed over this past year. The new tent is gorgeous and the whole venue is so gorgeous, including the grounds! We were happy to keep our decor minimal and let the mansion’s beauty shine, and we got so many compliments on the venue’s set up of having the dance space (Main Hall) separated from the dinner seating (tent). We also loved Woodend’s gorgeous property, which really shined for our late October wedding. Would fully recommend considering Woodend for your wedding - plenty of parking, beautiful space, great team, and your venue fee goes to a great charitable cause.
