Home to the historic Hilo Sugar Mill, The Ola distillery is a set on a magnificent sprawling 10 acre ocean-front property overlooking the Hilo Bay. We have a diverse layout with multiple ceremony and reception locations.

Perched at Aleʻaleʻa Point overlooking Hilo Bay, the ceremony space at the Ola Distillery is a setting that feels both grounded and elegant. Surrounded by ocean, breeze, and the natural rhythm of Hilo, the space invites presence and intention. Rooted in ʻāina and shaped by generations of connection, it provides a meaningful backdrop for ceremony that is dignified without excess, intimate yet open, and deeply reflective of Hawaiʻi’s enduring spirit.

A beautiful stone built amphitheater that overlooks Hilo Bay.
Ocean-facing and thoughtfully designed, the amphitheater at the Ola Distillery offers a naturally grounded gathering space overlooking Hilo Bay. Three stone tiers provide structure and intimacy, while surrounding grass seating invites comfort and connection. Open to the elements and shaped by the land, the amphitheater creates a relaxed yet intentional setting, perfect for ceremonies, performances, or shared moments held by the rhythm of the ocean.

Honored to be the wedding videographer!
Ola Distillery and Events was an absolute pleasure to work with for Ashley and Eric’s wedding. Their communication style is well-spoken, direct, and classy, which put us at ease throughout the planning process. The venue itself is wide open, serene, and spacious - the perfect backdrop for our special day. As the wedding filmmaker, Kekai Boshard, I was honored to be a part of their first live event, and the service was truly 5-star. First Wedding was a hit!
As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the honor of working at many beautiful venues, but capturing the very first wedding at the newly reopened Ola Distillery (formerly the Wainaku Executive Center) was something truly special. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly accommodating, especially as the Hilo rain made its appearance. Their team moved with calm professionalism and genuine care, ensuring the couple, guests, and vendor team all felt supported and well taken care of throughout the day. That kind of heart and attentiveness does not go unnoticed. The new ceremony space inside the old sugar mill tunnel is nothing short of iconic. It carries such rich history while still feeling intentional, and incredibly photogenic. As a storyteller behind the lens, I was inspired at every turn, the textures, the mood, the way the space holds both legacy and celebration so beautifully. What stood out most to me, though, was the spirit of the place. Even with challenging weather, the Ola Distillery team helped create an experience that felt seamless, joyful, and deeply cared for. You can truly feel that this team has a heart to serve. From the moment we first reached out, the mother of the bride-esque communication style of the onsite team put us at ease and made the planning process a breeze. Their attention to detail ensured everything ran smoothly on the big day. The remarkable, unforgettable, fairytale-like destination was the ideal backdrop for our special celebration, and the team went above and beyond to make sure our vision came to life. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding venue!
Stunning Venue - Amazing Staff
Ola Distillery and Events was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding. Their communication was clear, concise, and incredibly friendly throughout the entire planning process. The quality of their work and the value they provided was exquisite - they have such diverse options for couples, including their stunning oceanfront location with unique and historic elements. When it started raining on our wedding day, they seamlessly pivoted and moved our ceremony into the train tunnel, and it looked incredible - you'd never know it wasn't the original plan. This is truly the most beautiful and unique venue I've seen on this island, and I can't wait to come back and experience it again.
