We initially booked Hairs2theBride for one event just for hair, but they were so good that we ended up booking them for our second event as well. We had to change the time for the second event at the last minute, and Mike was so accommodating — he even offered to bring in a third stylist to make sure we were ready on time. That level of flexibility and professionalism was such a relief, especially being from out of state. Hayley was amazing to work with. She completely exceeded our expectations — the hairstyles came out even better than the inspiration photos! She was kind, personable, and funny, and made us feel so comfortable throughout the process. Eva did a fantastic job with makeup. Her airbrush foundation was flawless and lasted all night. For our second event, Chrissy did our makeup and absolutely killed it — the eyeshadow especially was beautifully blended and truly to die for. Honestly, the hair and makeup were even better than some of the artists I’ve worked with in NYC for other weddings! Overall, we were so impressed with the entire team. The prices were affordable, everyone was professional, and they went above and beyond to make everything perfect. It genuinely felt like getting ready with family — warm, fun, and effortless. For our first Illinois experience, Hairs2theBride set the bar incredibly high. We truly hope we get to work with them again in the future!”

“I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Windy City Glam. From the planning stages to the wedding day itself, everything felt thoughtful, organized, and deeply personal. Celeste and Alex were not only incredibly talented but also genuinely lovely to be around. And having Catherine who owns Windy City Glam and is also a close friend and one of my bridesmaids, made it feel all the more special. We got ready at the Hyatt House in West Loop, which isn’t the most spacious or salon-like spot for hair and makeup. But Celeste and Alex showed up early, fully prepared, and made the space work so seamlessly you’d think they set up there all the time. The room felt calm and happy, exactly what you want on a wedding morning. Celeste did makeup for me, my bridesmaids, and my mom. We had done a trial beforehand, and I gave quite a bit of feedback on what I liked and what didn’t feel quite like me. She took every note seriously, and on the wedding day, it all came together perfectly. The look felt just right, elevated, soft, with sparkly eyeshadow and still very much me. I felt beautiful without feeling overdone. The makeup lasted through every emotion, every hug, every photo, and hours of dancing. She also gave so much care to the rest of the bridal party. Everyone looked incredible and felt comfortable and confident, which set the tone for the whole day. Alex styled everyone’s hair, and she was just as amazing. At our trial, I had tighter waves than imagined, and I mentioned wanting something a little softer. On the day of, she adjusted the style to make the waves looser and added pearl accents that made it feel more romantic, and I loved it. It held beautifully all day and night through wind and nonstop dancing. My bridesmaids and mom also looked gorgeous, with styles that fit each person’s hair type and vibe. Alex was calm, focused, and incredibly efficient, but she never made anyone feel rushed. She cared about how everyone felt walking out of that chair. Catherine was a huge help behind the scenes with planning the schedule. She organized the timeline for hair and makeup so well that we stayed on track the entire morning without feeling on a timer. That kind of planning and attention to detail made the day run much more smoothly and let me enjoy the getting-ready part instead of stressing about timing. What made Windy City Glam stand out is how personal and supportive the whole experience felt. Celeste and Alex are true professionals, but they’re also kind people who bring such good energy into the room. They made me feel like the best version of myself on one of the most meaningful days of my life. If you’re considering Windy City Glam, do it. You’ll feel cared for, listened to, and completely at ease. I couldn’t be more grateful for them.”

We also had the best time getting ready, chatting about everything and anything while listening to some throwbacks which everyone enjoyed and participated in singing along. And last but no least, MY EXPERIENCE with my hair and makeup as the BRIDE. From one bride to a bride-to-be, I would say selecting your beauty vendor is one of the most important vendors for your wedding day because they set the tone for the rest of your day. You have to LOVE and ALIGN with the artists to your own personal style and vision of how you want to look on your big day because when you look back at your videos and photos you want to say “WOW, I FELT BEAUTIFUL!”. And Barbie did just that! As an Asian American not only did I want to look like myself but enhanced, I wanted to make sure I had an artist that understood Asian features and knew how to apply makeup to compliment those features. She exceeded my expectations, Barbie is well versed in the techniques in makeup applications for Asian and non-Asian faces and she will make you look so radiant on your day. And for my hair, Natali is so talented and executed any photos or inspiration I had for a timeless look for a classic bun and she perfectly replicate my vision flawlessly! “Alina was absolutely wonderful MUA and made me feel beautiful but still like myself. We ended up doing two make up trials because I changed what I was asking for and I was so happy I did. My makeup lasted all night, didn't move a bit, and looked amazing in person and in pictures. I also loved how Svetlana did my hair!     How much does hair and makeup cost for a wedding?

    According to Thumbtack, wedding makeup artists cost $90–$475 per person on average in 2022. Here at Zola, we recommend putting aside around $300 for your own wedding hair and makeup. Services for wedding party members are generally less expensive, as the artist or stylist will spend less time perfecting the look. Be sure to have a transparent conversation with your wedding party if you expect them to cover their own costs.

    How long does wedding hair and makeup take to do?

    The more involved the look, the more time it will take. In general, allocate 60–90 minutes for your own looks and 30–45 minutes for each member of the wedding party. Extensions, extra thick hair, and intricate makeup all take longer. Communicating who (with pictures and descriptions) is getting what (again, with photos) to your stylists will help them plan an accurate timeline.

    Who usually pays for hair and makeup for the wedding party?

    Traditionally, whoever is asking for the services should pay. However, this may not be in the budget for every couple. If you’re planning on having your wedding party pay, be transparent when you first ask them to be in the wedding party itself. Then, they can choose whether it’s possible for them to participate.

    How much should we tip for our wedding hair and makeup artists?

    A good rule of thumb is to tip 15–20%.
