Constructed in 1871 by Bavarian immigrant Philip H. Zorn Jr., Barrelhouse The Venue resides on the historic Zorn campus. As an annex to the brewery, Barrelhouse The Venue would manufacture beer barrels to house fresh beer prior to distribution around Northwest Indiana. Though unoccupied now, the original ice-house, brew-house, and malting building still stand across the street, a reminder of the dream Philip Zorn brought with him to America.

From its historical beginnings as a stoic munitions depot, The Armory experienced a beautiful transformation to showcase a sophisticated ballroom, classy built-in bar and impressive commercial kitchen. Original element of the 1928 Armory construction and subsequent Newman Recreations Center were incorporated into the even space renovation to provide the perfect blend of past and present.Iron-barred doors used to secure armers and thick concrete walls reinforced with brick to accommodate the National Guard Armory and shooting range lend a rustic industrial aesthetic. Wood from the recreation center bleachers line the dramatic bar and the orginial hardwood floor was dressed up to grace the ballroom. The vaulted timber ceilings and exposed truss work allow the dazzling period chandeliers an opportunity to lend an air of elegance to the urban decor. Mill Hall was built in 1873 and operated as a grain mill until the early 2000s. Following an extensive renovation, the Hall is now ready for use as an event venue.
