My wife and I had just the most delightful wedding this past New Year's Eve at the St. James Hotel! The venue was immaculate and looked so perfect in all its holiday splendor for a big winter party. We took advantage of multiple spaces over the course of our wedding week, including the Port speakeasy, the Historic Lobby, and the breathtaking Summit Room--each of which provided a unique and memorable backdrop for our festivities. The service we received from the staff at the St. James was second-to-none! Shelly and her team were responsive, communicative, and able to help with all of our numerous questions. In fact, we were so well taken care of by the St. James team, that we did not even need to hire a wedding planner and we were still able to have a perfect ceremony and reception. The food and cake also exceeded all of our expectations and were the cherry on top of a perfect wedding venue experience. We would recommend the St. James to any couple looking for a convenient and affordable wedding venue for a large wedding near the Twin Cities, but especially to any couple planning a New Year's Eve wedding--the hotel is the perfect combination of elegant and spacious to throw a perfect party to ring in the new year.

Forestville Winery and Event Center encompasses 17 acres of beauty and serenity. 2026 marks our seventh season hosting events and memories to guests. Our climate controlled Event Building features spacious room for 175+ guests in a “country elegant” décor. The building features a Bride’s suite with full bathroom and private patio. Also inside is a wine, beer and liquor bar, a catering kitchen, a food serving area, and spacious restrooms. The Forestville property is also home to a completely renovated one room School constructed in 1897 and used as a school until 1964. The School building houses our wine, beer and liquor tasting room and also the Groom’s Suite.

We had the absolute pleasure of getting married at Forestville Vines Winery. We had a shorter timeline for our wedding (about 6-7 months!) and Mark and the team helped us achieve everything we wanted. We had never been to the winery before and toured in the winter while it was covered in snow, but the tour was so informative we had faith in the people and booked a couple days later! Budget-wise, Forestville was very affordable, and the big reason we chose it over other venues was the price and the ability to really DIY a lot of aspects (like table cloths, settings, etc). This is exactly the venue for you if you're someone who wants to have a heavier creative hand in the process. During our planning process, we would frequently reach out to Mark with questions (are real candles okay, can we move stuff, etc), and Mark was always quick to answer. We toured the venue again in May a couple months before our own wedding, and got to see the venue in all of its beauty. The team treated us wonderfully and seemed just as excited as us about our wedding. They were so accommodating throughout the entire process, and helped everything go so smoothly. Day-of went great, and we loved having pizza at the wedding. Super thankful to Mark and the team for giving us a absolutely beautiful place to get married!

The team at Afton House Inn and St. Croix River Cruises were a pleasure to work with for our rehearsal dinner dining experience. They were professional which put me at ease throughout the planning process. They provided excellent service, were incredibly friendly, and went out of their way to be accommodating of our needs. We just toured this venue and even though it's under construction I fell in love with it's natural beauty and charm right away. It is a gorgeous and unique property that exudes romance - every space feels like it tells a story. I can't wait to see the finished product! The tour team was wonderful and so informative. A "one-stop-shop" stress-free experience with excellent service is what we offer. Our beautiful Ballroom holds up to 300 guests. We include a two-room suite for the Bride & Groom the night of the Reception, we have a Banquet Manager that runs the event from beginning to end, we set up and tear down all the decorations, all the linens, tables and chairs are included (we will add our chair covers for $2 each) and we include uplighting in the room. We also do a group block for your guests at a discounted rate. We set up a Host and/or Cash Bar at no extra cost. The Ceremony can be held here as well for a small fee. We will need 2 hours between the Ceremony and the Reception to flip the room. Our Pre-Function Area and Patio are ideal for a Cocktail Reception during that time or guests can come back when the Reception opens. Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse caters for our events. Our Chef is very flexible and we offer options for guests with dietary restrictions.

We really enjoyed using the Holiday Inn for our reception! The space was great- the staff did really great going over and talking with us to get exactly what we wanted and our setup turned out beautifully. We did have some issues with communication at the end and numbers in pricing kept changing which was frustrating when we thought we were paying one price and then through email find out we were paying another price. As well as the food pricing for catering changed at least two if not three times from the time we put a deposit on the space to the final payment and only got updated numbers for catering a couple times and I had to ask for them it wasn’t just automatically sent to us as they changed, so going into one of our final meeting with expectation of a certain price with what we were planning and then they had changed again and we didn’t know until we got there and it was being discussed. It was frustrating because it is a spendy cost using their restaurant for catering and price just kept going up. Overall the experience was good, just frustrating at the end and that’s the most stressful time of planning is close tot he wedding so this was just an added stress that was unnecessary.

After touring over 10 venues in Rochester, Stillwater and the Twin Cities, we discovered that many of the representatives seemed disconnected to the venue and we were often meeting with people that were not the events coordinator. In general there was a lack of enthusiasm for the business we were prepared to give them with hosting 200 plus guests, providing a seated dinner, full bar and hiring live music. Then, we met with Amanda and Souliman to tour the Kahler Grand Hotel. From the first communication we could sense something was different and were looking forward to our meeting. From the first handshake there was a positive energy and they helped us to feel as if we were their only customer. They both gave us a tour of the various rooms available to have a ceremony and reception. They were thorough in providing details and we were not left guessing about costs. They were able to answer all of our questions without deferring to other entities. Amanda and Souliman had knowledge, autonomy and authority to make decisions without needing to cut through several levels of bureaucracy. Their policies were designed to benefit the customer and we did not feel anything was being hidden from us at any point during the planning process. We feel they put our needs first and were some of the most professional individuals we encountered throughout the venue search. We were planning a wedding with a separate ceremony and reception space, but did not want our guests to have to drive to and from several locations. With the variety of different event spaces, the Kahler Grand Hotel met those requirements as well as being connected to the hotel rooms. In addition, they are connected to the Marriot. The hotel room tour showed that their renovations are almost complete and would have been by the time of our wedding. The rooms are modern, well-appointed and we felt the accommodations would be impressive and comfortable for guests. Our food tasting exceeded our expectations as there were many food choices and quality taste. They were able to accommodate a time when our parents would be visiting form out of state. Their bar policies were fair, reasonable and they happily entertained our unusual request to procure a barrel of local whiskey. All of these things were top notch, what we were looking for and surprisingly under our budget. However, we cannot emphasize enough how Amanda and Soulaiman were the reason we chose to book our wedding at the Kahler Grand Hotel. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our wedding due to COVID-19 and it was hard to make this decision because of having such a positive experience. They were gracious, understanding and made the termination of our contract easy. We recommend the Kahler Grand Hotel as top choice for weddings! Thank you, Jessica and Chris

The Mendakota Country Club is a beautiful venue and we had the vision for how beautiful the course would be in the early fall for our wedding when we toured in the dead of winter!! Our photos throughout the day in multiple locations throughout the venue are stunning with beautiful greenery and waterfronts. MCC checked every box for what we looked for in a venue, including (but not limited to): the opportunity for an outdoor ceremony and flexibility in having both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the event including cocktail hour, onsite getting ready spaces, onsite catering with a variety of dinner options and a cohesive, one-level space (helpful and easy for family members with physical mobility issues) Adena was very responsive and by the end of our year and a half engagement, had responded to 200 emails, discussing details and answering questions for our big day! Jessica and Adena in partnership with our Day of Coordinator were able to manage many moving pieces and make our big day come together beautifully, and the waitstaff and barstaff were wonderful to work with. While we had a good experience overall with MCC, there were two day-of notes that did detract from our Big Day: We were told that the staff will “stop golfers” from teeing off at certain holes during the ceremony, however we had numerous golfers walk right behind our officiant during the ceremony and even one golfer approximately 15 feet from us saying our vows yelling to someone in the parking lot. While we understand it is a country club/golf course first and foremost, MCC charges couples a 1,200 onsite ceremony fee that should come with the expectations of no members on the first few holes of the course during the ceremony. During the reception, the temperature was not well maintained and by the time the dance floor was fully opened, all guests were profusely sweating. While there were industrial fans to help keep the room cool, it was not as effective as we would have liked, especially during an unseasonably warm day in mid-September.

My husband and I hosted our wedding reception at Jameson's for 100 people. People were in LOVE with the food and the cool setting. They have an outdoor patio to spread out and relax as well as a full bar to serve all your guests needs. Did I mention the bar is original from when it opened in the 1930's? Setting up the night before and being able to stop by during the day was so very easy. This is a super reasonably priced location right in the Twin Cities and so close to downtown St. Paul.

413 on Wacouta is such an amazing venue and it was perfect for our wedding! The building has so much character we really didn’t need to do a ton of extra decorating and just let the spaces shine. It has a very Beauty and the Beast, speakeasy vibe which made for a beautiful and romantic setting. We had a little over 100 people which I felt fit the space well. Victoria is so much fun and was really wonderful to work with also! She sent photos and videos she had taken throughout the day and was such an asset in ensuring our day was special and ran smoothly. 10/10 I highly recommend if you are looking for an intimate, romantic downtown setting with a ton of charm!
