“I was lucky enough to work with Josiah and Paige for my wedding in February and they were outright amazing. I had zero issues working with them. I don't mean that in a way where there were small things I didn't like but looked over-NO. I truly had zero issues with both of them or any of the people on their team for the day of hair and make up services. Before my big day, I booked two separate hair and make up trials where I asked for completely different things and at either trials they both arrived on time and did exactly the look I asked for. Then, the WEEKEND OF my wedding I realized I couldn't exactly pick between the two different looks and I humbly asked if Josiah could somehow combine the two looks from my trials for a "soft glam" look and he delivered. I have never felt so pretty. Same exact situation with my hair. Josiah and Paige were so patient and friendly and kind! There team worked quickly and efficiently on the day of my wedding to do hair and make up for most of my bridal party plus my mother and my mother in law- and a surprise person who changed her mind from doing her own make up to asking for it done! We even got little personalized touch up kits to reapply any lipstick or pin up any additional hair. I highly highly recommend this team of amazing professionals. “If you’re on the hunt for the world’s best hair vibes human, stop now and book Dez. I don’t even know where to start. Because yes, my hair was flawless and I felt SO beautiful (she nailed my vision, it lasted through heat, wind, sweat, dancing, hugging, all of it), but that’s not even the part that makes me scream her praises from the rooftops. It was the energy she brought to my wedding morning. I was nervous, overstimulated, and kind of freaking out- the day just felt so BIG, I wanted to make it feel less big (didn't even put on my wedding day getting ready outfit cuz it felt like too much production and wanted to just chill in my sweatshirt lol), and Dez just floated in like this calming, grounding, magical presence. She made me feel like the “non-bridal cool chill bride” I wanted to be, and it felt SO right. Everyone — my mom, my sister, my friends — were obsessed with her. Like we all raved about her for days. And here’s the extra awesome part... I hired her without even doing a trial (after firing my first HMUA), which felt risky but I felt like I could trust she would do a great job without the trial just based off her vibes in email. But I couldn't have any clue how WELL I picked until that morning she showed up. Dez was just instantly that person you trust, who makes you feel safe and amazing, and who also happens to make your hair look better than it ever has in your life. She even came with a little emergency kit (lifesaver!!), which my makeup artist was supposed to do for me and totally forgot about because she was leaving in a hurry. It’s just who she is — thoughtful, prepared, next-level professional but also the chillest person in the room. Also, if I hadn't already booked a new makeup artist I absolutely would have done makeup with her too!! We loved her so much that my mom immediately booked her to do her and her friend's hair and makeup for the Emmy’s this weekend (!!) because obviously she’s now our go-to for any LA/OC glam moment. TBH if you’re reading this just book her. She’s the one.”

Colette really understood my vision—I wanted to look like myself, not too overdone, but with a touch of soft glam, and she nailed it perfectly. I also had Josie do hair for a few wedding party members, and everyone looked incredible. The atmosphere while getting ready was fun yet wonderfully calm. It all started for me at a very young age. In the early 90's when it was all about fashion and the super model, I would OBSESS over the style network and watch runway shows for hours. Fast forward to post high school choices I went to school for esthetics and also got a degree in natural health so that I could offer an additional layer to my makeup knowledge and services. Not soon after I graduated from school I freelanced for the best cosmetic company at that time. Five years after being a brand ambassador for M.A.C I branched off on my own to open a freelance hair and makeup artistry which I eventually moved to Caliornia.

She and her team showed up right on time and made me, eight bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother-in-law all look picture perfect for the big day. My look lasted me the ENTIRE day through a lot of photos, dancing, and partying and, having just gotten my wedding photos, I’m thrilled! “I would like to say preface my review by saying that I don’t normally wear makeup or style my hair. That being said, I spent alot of time looking through portfolios and meeting with potential make up artists. A friend recommended Deserae Barajas, so I booked a makeup preview with her. During our preview, Des asked me about what I envisioned for my wedding. She was also the only MUA that asked to see my wedding dress and Pinterest board so she could better understand my taste and overall wedding aesthetic. My hair and makeup came out beautifully during the preview, so I booked her for my wedding. The day of my wedding, I looked and felt fxxxing gorgeous! Des did a spectacular job on my hair and my makeup. She recommended that I go with a slightly darker shade of lipstick to better compliment my skin tone, and that made all of the difference in my overall look. I got married on Halloween in Southern California, so it was about 87 outside. The heat made me sweat but my hair and makeup still looked flawless! At the reception, I had a great time drinking and dancing. The best part was that I never even had to touch up my makeup! I looked great! I was glad I invested in Des Barajas because her talent and work made it easier for me to enjoy my day. When I received my wedding photos, my husband and I were both floored by how amazing we both looked. I received a ton of compliments on my hair and makeup, and I was finally able to really see why. My face looked amazing, and my hair was beautiful. Working with Des was really easy and comfortable. She listened to what my beauty needs and concerns were, and her talent far exceeded my expectations. I have recommended her to all of my family and friends, and you’d be a fool to not hire her.
