AwestrucKen Photography focuses on ensuring great moments in time are caught. As much as we are tech/gear heads with regards to equipment, we also know that the greatest piece of equipment any photographer can have is his/her brain. We pride ourselves on using our brains and our gear to not just take pictures, but to tell stories. While pictures, as Dorothea Lange says, “take an instant out of time; altering life by holding it still”, it’s also important that each instant of time is part of a person or event’s story.

A wedding and events photographer based in the Chicago suburbs, I don’t take pictures, I freeze emotions in time. Clients will spend more time with me in front of—rather than behind—my camera, as I ensure each client is given an experience as unique as they are.

    Ken and his assistant were great. They were barely noticeable when the wedding started, but the pictures that were obtained from them captured most of the memories of that day. They made recommendations for improving the experiences around taking pictures such as keeping the family photos extremely efficient so that we could get on to the reception.

    Ken, did any amazing job. He takes his time to make sure you get all the photos you want. Also, he goes over it with you a few times before the day of. He gets to all venue in plenty of times so, you are not late. His good sense of humor keeps pictures interesting. You wont be disappointed if you hire him for your special day.

    We are deeply disappointed with our experience with AwestrucKen Photography. After our wedding, we were informed that all of our wedding photos were lost due to a technology failure on his end, and it appeared that there was not a proper backup system in place. These were once-in-a-lifetime memories, and the loss was absolutely heartbreaking for us. While he did provide us with a full refund, no amount of money can replace our wedding photos or undo the emotional impact of this incident. As clients, we reasonably expected a professional photographer to have reliable backup systems to protect something this important. This situation caused significant stress and sadness during what should have been a joyful time. We are sharing our experience so future couples can make a fully informed decision when choosing a photographer for such an important day.

    Holly and Kyle, I am truly sorry. What happened with your wedding photos is devastating, and I take full responsibility for that loss. Your wedding day was irreplaceable, and you trusted me to preserve those memories. I failed to do that, and I understand the heartbreak and disappointment you’ve expressed. After discovering the failure, I immediately refunded you in full and pursued every possible recovery option, but that does not change the emotional impact of losing these once-in-a-lifetime images. Since then, I have completely overhauled my backup and file-handling systems with multiple layers of redundancy so that something like this can never happen again. None of those changes fix what happened to you, and I know that. I am deeply sorry for the pain and stress this caused during what should have been one of the happiest seasons of your lives. I wish you both nothing but love, health, and happiness in the years ahead. — Kenneth

    Ken was the absolute perfect addition to our special day! Obviously you cherish your wedding photos forever and we could not be happier with them! On our big day, he made sure to get the most beautifully stunning yet natural shots that we envisioned while making sure we were comfortable and having the absolute best time.
