Wedding cakes can range from $3–$15 per serving . Tiered cakes are more expensive than sheet cake styled cakes.

How should we cut our wedding cake?

Traditionally, you’d do a ceremonial cutting first, often holding hands on the knife. The caterer then takes the cake away and cuts it into slices to distribute to guests. If you’re slicing it up yourselves, take apart the tiers and cut them into small rectangles. Remember to wrap and freeze the top layer for your anniversary!

How should we transport our wedding cake?

Very carefully! Ideally, your cake will be delivered by your bakery, which should have plenty of experience transporting cakes. You can also purchase special boxes made to protect the tiers.

When should we order our wedding cake?

Set up tastings (the fun part!) around 7 months out. Once you’ve decided, place your order.

“It is truly an understatement to say I love cake. It is actually my weakness! So when I was searching for a bakery or baker to make my wedding cake, I really wanted to make sure I was not only going to love the look and taste of it but also choose someone that is actually passionate about it. I reached out to so many places and no one responded so kindly and promptly like Natasha. It is no doubt that her work is impeccable (what you see in pictures does not do justice to how even MORE beautiful it is in person), but her communication throughout the process and commitment to executing your vision is incomparable to other bakeries and bakers. I had a very intimate/small wedding (15 people), and other bakers made me feel like my event wasn't worth their time and effort to make, but Natasha was so sweet and kind - made me feel like she genuinely wanted to make our day special. I especially loved that she offered a cake tasting for us even though we were only ordering a small 2-Tier cake. Other bakers refused to do a tasting unless I was intending to spend over 700. All of the flavors she offered were SOOOOO good! It was tough to choose one but we are beyond satisfied with the berry shortcake flavor Everyone at my wedding was so impressed by the cake. So clean, chic and timeless. She truly executed my vision from just the one inspiration picture. Unfortunately I did not get any clear pictures of the cake due to the dim lighting in the restaurant . My guests were also amazed how moist and tasty it was too (make sure to follow her recommendation to serve cake at room temperature to enjoy at its full potential). You can really feel the love, time and effort she puts into her work!!! A TRUE TALENT. She was very honest and reasonable when it came to pricing as well! She always addressed our questions or concerns in a timely and professional manner. Details on how to store and preserve our cake were provided, along with great communication with our venue. Although we went for a classic almond cake with raspberry filling, she has a huge selection of fun and unique flavors. Shannon got our vision right EXACTLY ! “We ordered our wedding cake from Cakes by Stephanie and worked directly with Tommy, and I truly could not be happier with the entire experience. The cake was a very important part of the wedding for me (I love cake!), so I was really hoping for something delicious and memorable—and they absolutely delivered. We scheduled a wedding cake tasting, and Tommy was wonderful to work with. He explained everything clearly, was incredibly helpful, and made the whole process fun. They had a complimentary tasting prepared for us with six cake flavors and fillings, and every single sample was amazing. They have so many combinations to choose from, and they even offered to let us come back later to try additional flavors if we wanted. That level of kindness, communication, and flexibility meant a lot. On the wedding day, their team coordinated with my florist for adding fresh flowers to the cake, and it turned out incredible—exactly what I imagined. We also rented a cake stand from them for a very reasonable price, which made things even easier. Their policies were straightforward, the staff was friendly, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. Since the wedding, multiple guests have told me (even months later!) how delicious our cake was. We chose chocolate with hoho cream and white cake with fresh strawberry filling, and both were a huge hit. We also get a fresh cake for our one-year anniversary, which I’m already looking forward to!
