The day of our wedding was just a blast. The team at BR handled everything with ease. The whole day went smoothly. Plus the best thing about the venue is the all inclusive package they offer and how they contact all the vendors for you. I love the outdoor ceremony locations. Yes locations they have multiple ceremony options outside and an indoor reception space with lots of room for our 100 guests. The grooms cave upstairs was such a hit with all the groomsmen and they played with the pool table up to the very last second before the ceremony. During reception it did rain so we weren’t able to do our sparkler exit but the staff was able to let us use our cold sparklers and get one last photo with those. The day after we had to pick up some decor pieces and they were more than accommodating. It was just a blast and Cheyenne is the best wedding planner and we had an amazing time planning our big day with her. We both loved our wedding at Bakers Ranch.”

“What is there to say! Five stars is simply not enough! Well for starters we just had our wedding at the Terraview on 10.19.24 and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! There are simply not enough words to describe this venue and this entire atmosphere as well as planning process. Our coordinator was Barbara and she was fantastic. The entire year leading up to our wedding. There was nothing but amazing communication and help at every turn. They make the planning process for your event or wedding so easy and we were so grateful since we honestly had no idea where to begin. Everything was amazing on the day of and was perfect to beginning to end. There is not a thing that we would have changed about our wedding. From the decorations to the florals to the food, there was no detail left out. If you are looking for a truly unique and beautiful wedding or event space, I highly recommend this venue. The details of our day were so intimate and so carefully thought out by the entire team that we had working with us. We worked with the floral department and the bakery and the kitchen to create an amazing day. The transparency is second to none and we are forever grateful. They also have an on-site beauty studio where your hair makeup can get done and they were also fantastic to work with! Gina and her girls are truly talented and made my entire bridal party look stunning. My day of bridal attendant was Belkis and she is absolutely amazing. There was not one thing that we had questions on that she could not handle. She made sure that all the girls were eating. She made sure that I as the bride ate and was hydrated. She made everybody make sure that their dresses were perfect and during the getting ready portion, she was there for us 110% of the time helping with photos. Making sure that every detail on my dress was perfect. There are not enough words for her and I am profoundly grateful. After the ceremony, she insured that we had a drink in our hands and made sure that we were eating during our reception. She made sure that we were eating and brought us water on the dance floor and drinks on the dance floor and was just always at our side ready to help us. She is definitely an asset to this venue in so many ways. It is also close to the Scranton airport if you have guest coming from farther away. They have different venues on site (different sizes and styles) and it’s one event per day at each so you aren’t dealing with other parties. It is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony sites are outdoors with gorgeous views and the reception rooms are beautiful. It is a family business and you do truly feel like family while working with them. I cannot say enough great things! It’s close to many hotels so getting blocks wasn’t an issue. You also get some rooms on site. You also get a wedding coordinator and a day or person who is well aware of you needs and wants! Our day was absolutely perfect beginning to end! They make it so easy to plan and stress free! Food was absolutely amazing and my guests have been raving since! I had a cocktail reception which I highly recommend exploring! They have their own full bakery so all desserts were also made by them! We are truly grateful for the entire team at the Stroudsmoor, who made our wedding day unforgettable and a day that our guests will talk about forever. “First off, the wedding coordinator MELISSA at The Milestone Denton is godsend and 10000% deserves a huge raise and fat bonus for the amount of work she does and is so helpful in the planning process. She was very honest and upfront during the entire planning process. I am very Type A and for once in my life it was nice to have someone else in charge and I fully trusted her. She even provides recommendations when you don’t know what you want and will be honest with pricing. If it weren’t for Melissa, I don’t know how the wedding would have gone and I would have been so stressed during the planning process. She is so awesome that she goes out of her way to do things for you (be nice everyone!) and is very responsive. She also helped with the reception layout with my divorced parents who do not get along with other family members and it was a success. MELISSA IS THE BEST!! The venue - BEAUTIFUL. We had our ceremony indoors which was nice because our guests were able to take pictures at the gabezo in the back during cocktail hour. If you do your ceremony outside at the gazebo, the guests won’t be able to have their little photoshoots. The entire venue is gorgeous and every corner is a photo-op. It’s a great venue if you have 150 or less people. The big windows everywhere were just so beautiful. The bridal suite is HUGE and beautiful and the grooms suite is upstairs and has a tv and pool table. Perfect for the boys! The food, bar and DJ - everything was great and explained throughly by Melissa so expectations were set and made based on what tier and package you purchased I did not use the Walter Weddings photographer, florists or cake designer so I can’t speak to that. One downfall was on the day of the wedding with Melissa’s day of partner, Allison. She is super sweet and helped steam my bridal gown and Matron of Honor’s dress, which I’m so appreciative of. But I guess she didn’t communicate well to the staff on what needed to be done that day because there were several mishaps that shouldn’t have happened. The ceremony room was incomplete and she didn’t give me the chance to see how the front tables looked. I purchased 100 of bouquet flowers and ribbons that were supposed to be tied to each seat which I was told could be done since it was a simple task to tie 3 flowers and a bow on each aisle chair. This was not done so that small detail from my ceremony room seem bland and a waste of money. The front tables weren’t done how I wanted and it was chaotic having presents with our guestbook and our wedding sign. We wanted to utilize the buffet type table in the front room for presents so it’s not so cluttered when you walk in. Also, a lot of my items were not used for cocktail hour. After the wedding, I noticed the box was opened but she did not use what I purchase and the display for cocktail hour looked like a “backyard bbq” according to my guests. I was so disappointed because I had custom items and “backyard bbq” did not fit the vibe of “old Hollywood glam” of the wedding. Other than the day of mishaps, I highly recommend doing your wedding at Milestone Mansion Denton and having Melissa as your coordinator. GIVE HER A HUGE RAISE, Walter Weddings!!! She’s top notch and deserves it!”

“TL;DR - there is plenty of space, the acoustics are awesome, the amenities are plenty and of great quality, and the staff is very friendly and helpful! They have some rules due to the historic nature of the building, but they weren't a problem and the owners will help you figure things out. We rented this space for our wedding. We chose it for a few reasons: -it's very spacious, but the acoustics were still incredible -it's in the middle of town -hotels are a short drive away, plenty of rides available -there is a small lift for those with mobility issues (we had a couple) -the facilities were all clean and new -it is climate-controlled They also supply plenty of chairs and tables, and offer a handful of lighting options (at additional cost) that really make the space feel comfy and welcoming. It's worth noting that Olio is based in a historic building, so there are rules in place to protect the walls, floors, and everything overhead. We didn't find the rules to be a problem, and the owner, Sarah, was very communicative and happy to work with us to satisfy both their rules and our vision. It is also worth noting that, for catering, Olio has a catalog of their own partnered/approved vendors (all full-service) that are trained to work within the rules of the venue. Caterers were available at multiple price points and a variety of cuisines to give plenty of options for people. There is an option to bring in other vendors, but at additional cost due to training. We went with Vinwood Caterers (from their catalog) for our wedding, and were absolutely blown away with the quality of their food and service. Back to the venue itself... When looking online, the pictures were all stunning, but the idea of getting married in a room with concrete walls was admittedly a little off-putting. Once we visited in person, though, we immediately fell in love with it. The nice view of Main Street through the windows and the natural lighting (and later the market lighting and up-lighting) really make the place feel more warm and welcoming than you might expect. There was virtually zero echo in there despite it being so big and open, and the patterning of the concrete is weirdly charming in person, probably thanks to the warm lighting. Pair that with good A/C in the summer and the other things listed above, and we were sold! On the big day, it all paid off and the space felt just as warm and welcoming as we'd hoped. Full-service catering was expensive, but they took care of almost literally everything - including setting up, moving, and breaking down furniture throughout the event - and still provided top notch food and drink. Well worth the cost to not stress about managing all the furniture ourselves and getting out on time. The venue's staff were there to make sure everything was working and kept us informed of things before and during the event. Overall - very glad we went with Olio despite the restrictions. Well worth the time and money for probably the best day of our lives yet!”

“The view is even better in person. Photos are gorgeous but really can't do justice to the beauty and peaceful vibe at the farm. The team was fantastic. They provided a large bridal suite and grooms suite for us to get ready in. They booked almost all of our vendors and had recommendations for anything not included (local cabins, hotels, transportation, pastors, etc) We didn't lift a finger to decorate anything. They completely took care of all our setup and it was exactly what we wanted and had selected with the wedding planner. The venue is accessible which was really important to us since we had guests in wheelchairs. We had to do a rain delay and the staff worked so hard wiping down pews for our guests and even provided clear umbrellas just in case. We had a positive experience with the vendors in the package and the venue staff. We would encourage anyone to book this venue. They will go above and beyond to take care of you and your guests.”

“We were absolutely thrilled with our experience at Walden Chicago. From the moment we toured the venue with Maria, we knew it was the perfect place for our November 2024 wedding. A huge added perk that we quickly learned was going to make a huge difference in our wedding planning experience was the included in-house planning team. Kalila and Alyssa supported us from beginning to end. Throughout the planning process both Kalila and Alyssa were attentive and responsive. Whether they were recommending vendors, answering one of many questions, helping us sort through rehearsal dinner options, or navigating final meetings and details they were with us through every step of the way. The online planning tool you gain access to through Walden helps you stay organized and makes sure you don’t forget any detail (big or small). When we had a slight mishap with our cake the day of the wedding they had already reached out to the bakery on our behalf before the wedding was over and a partial refund for the cake was secured by the next morning. Our wedding day ran smoothly thanks to Kalila and Alyssa. I felt as though I did not have to worry about a thing. The planning team handled all communication with vendors and kept us on schedule which allowed for us both to be very present on our big day. I have to highlight the spacious bridal suite as it was the perfect place to start the day. With 9 bridesmaids, a mother of the bride and a mother of the groom you naturally worry about any space feeling cramped but the separate getting ready stations and lounge area allowed everyone to be relaxed and comfortable the morning of the wedding and throughout the wedding day. This was also the perfect space to be tucked away post ceremony to enjoy our first moments together as newlyweds. The rooftop at golden hour made for some breathtaking photos, the ceremony space lit with candles crated the perfect ambiance for our Friday evening ceremony, and the cocktail and reception spaces decorated to fit our vision made for the most memorable day. After the tasting party a few months prior to the wedding, we knew the food and drinks were going to be a stand out part of the evening. Because we were given multiple options for appetizers, salads, mains and drinks, we were really able to personalize the menus to our taste. Guests raved about our food and drinks. We were told by nearly every guest that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Walden seamlessly accommodated various guests food restrictions and allergies as well. “My partner and I’s venue search ended the second we ascended in the historical elevator to the penthouse of the James Oviatt Building. The Oviatt venue is a multifaceted piece of beautiful Art Deco history that lends itself well to whatever event you are trying to throw. In our case, they hosted our wedding. We will forever be grateful for their immense care and kindness leading up to, on, and after the big day. We met the President Gabe first, who had his own wedding at this venue before he managed it. He made us feel right at home and answered every question we could muster. Our one hour showing turned into a two and a half hour conversation where his care and passion for the venue and his clients became very clear. We felt a connection right away. He shared a wealth of great advise and reassurances and gave us an impeccable pool of preferred vendors. We were sold in minutes. Every event is different, but my partner and I did not feel the space needed any help to become beautiful. The architectural art of the space is breathtaking and unique from the valet area outside of the Cicada Club all the way to the terrace. We saved a fortune on a florist. Who needs one when everything is already so classy? Speaking of class, the Director of Events Lindsey took point on execution and was our resource during the planning process. I as an individual am not the most communicative. I needed someone with that attention to detail and she delivered. After giving her all the venue required specifications (seating chart, insurances, etc,) two conversations was all it took for her to equip the venue with everything it needed and make it gorgeous. It seemed effortless for her. Not a spec of dust or dirt to be seen and the staff was respectful, efficient, and welcoming. I had a panic attack because I forgot to ask them for valet and she was able to get her people on it without issue the same week as the wedding. (Don’t be like me, but that is a perfect example of how on top of it they are.) They had EVERYTHING we could have wanted for a downtown metropolitan wedding and then some. If they didn’t have it? They knew exactly where to refer you. One of my personal favorite features was their completely customizable LED lighting strips on the hedges that lined either side of the rooftop. We had them a bright warm light for dinner and then a cycle of rainbow colors for dancing. They are inclusive and welcoming to any and all who come to visit. We felt valued, respected, and well cared for. It truly was the best day of our lives and we owe it all to The Oviatt. I implore to to reach out to them. I can say with certainty that you won’t be disappointed and whatever it is you are planning will become a memorable experience unlike any other.”

“We had a fabulous wedding reception at the Donauschwaben German Cultural Center (Lenau Park). Their entire staff—from their awesome coordinator Christine to their banquet captain and bar staff—was so kind, so professional, and most importantly made our guests feel welcome and taken care of. Christine came to every meeting organized and prepared. She understands the details as well as the emotions that go into planning a wedding and was a great part of our support system. She is fair and reasonable—even helped us make a German Hall a little more “Italian” for the bride. We could not have asked for a better partner! As for the venue itself, it was the perfect place to host 300 of our closest friends and family. The space was beautiful, bright and happy. Our guests were comfortably seated at 32 round tables of 8 to 10. The team made all of our décor visions come to life. The outdoor patio was welcoming and comfortable for guests as well. The dance floor is huge! Perfect for an Italian tarantella. I would also say the room is set up well acoustically—with 300 people in the room and music playing, you could still hear the other people at your table. The entryway was also perfect for our receiving line. We were happy to see that guests could enjoy their time—whether they wanted to dance the night away, sit and chat, or just enjoy the night air with family. The food was excellent—seriously excellent. We got so many compliments after the wedding! They have their buffet line down to a science with all of our guests being served in a reasonable amount of time. They also did a great job of meeting the needs of our gluten- and dairy-free guests. That is so hard to do when you are feeding so many people, and even these guests said they enjoyed their meals. Finally, the money we spent on this wedding reception was well worth the value. The food and beverage packages are incredibly fair for the quality and the amount of food your guests will be served. We were also able to add appetizers and some special add-ons at a reasonable rate. The linens are provided by a separate vendor, but even those costs were not too bad, and everything looked beautiful when it was decorated! While there are certain rules the venue must follow and sometimes we needed to negotiate the details, Christine was highly transparent and upfront with us, and always worked with us to find the right solution for our day. After hosting our wedding here, we would absolutely do it again with this space and this team. When it comes to the Donauschwaben, we strongly recommend them for your wedding reception and cannot say enough good things about their level of service!”

They also let you bring in your own decorations or use the ones they have available. The staff is so amazing! Maddison was my venue coordinator who answered all of my questions and was excellent with assisting with the planning and making sure everything was set for our wedding day! I also had an event coordinator who spent the day with us to make sure everything was running smoothly. They did have two weddings that day so having an event coordinator who could speak with the other coordinator was a huge bonus. Also the food- to die for! It was soooo good and was definitely a favorite for my guests. Not to mention the views! Nazareth has so many spots inside and outside that make the most beautiful wedding photos! “I cannot say enough fabulous things about Itasca country club & its staff. We were at our wits end searching for venues and then decided let’s check out the country club. We were amazed by how beautiful the space was both inside and outside. It was a no brainer from there. We worked with Genny as our coordinator and she helped keep things organized and on track but was equally a calming presence. She took over at the midway point as we had a different point of contact and she did so with grace. Our meeting with her 2 weeks out helped us feel like she had everything under control and alleviated our stress. The wedding day was beautiful, so many places to take photos outdoors! Guests were raving about the food & we can honestly say the crab cakes were the best we’ve ever had. How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees.
