Wedding cakes can range from $3–$15 per serving . Tiered cakes are more expensive than sheet cake styled cakes.

How should we cut our wedding cake?

Traditionally, you’d do a ceremonial cutting first, often holding hands on the knife. The caterer then takes the cake away and cuts it into slices to distribute to guests. If you’re slicing it up yourselves, take apart the tiers and cut them into small rectangles. Remember to wrap and freeze the top layer for your anniversary!

How should we transport our wedding cake?

Very carefully! Ideally, your cake will be delivered by your bakery, which should have plenty of experience transporting cakes. You can also purchase special boxes made to protect the tiers.

When should we order our wedding cake?

Set up tastings (the fun part!) around 7 months out. Once you’ve decided, place your order.

“Armana made our wedding cake for our elopement and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. I had so much trouble finding someone willing to make a cake for us because it was a very small elopement, only six people, and it was on a Monday. So many bakeries either never called me back or took weeks to respond. One bakery even quoted me 600 for a six-inch cake. Armana was the complete opposite. She responded, was kind and professional, charged a very reasonable price, and was happy to accommodate the flavor requests I had. Our situation was also a little complicated because our flight to Phoenix arrived the same morning we needed to pick up the cake, and we had to drive it to Sedona. We needed the cake to stay refrigerated for the trip, so I shipped Armana a cooler and ice packs ahead of time. When we arrived, she had everything perfectly packed and ready to go for us. She truly went above and beyond to make this work for us, and I’m so grateful. The cake was beautiful, delicious, and such a special part of our day. I had a very specific vision: a tall, classy, elegant, and ARTISTIC cake that would tie in seamlessly with our wedding signage and day of paper goods and she delivered that and more. Our cake was a true statement piece. Five tiers of textured, draped fondant, delicate floral details, and a gold acrylic monogram (our logo) that perfectly matched our gold acrylic menu cards. It was not just a dessert; it was an art piece that reflected our entire wedding aesthetic. Flavor-wise, Juries worked with us to create a custom combo of chocolate cake with a caramel and hazelnut praline buttercream filling. It was rich, moist, perfectly balanced, not overly sweet and completely unforgettable (I am already thinking of hosting something so that i have a reason to order another cake from her with the same filling because it was that GOOD!). “I sent Crystal this photo and I was a bit nervous at first about how they'd be able to make this happen but honestly I am so happy with how this came out it really was absolutely beautiful. I wasn't able to meet her in person with everything going on but she dropped it off for us on time and my coordinator was great in getting everything set up and presented. A few blueberries fell off during handling but considering how detailed and intricate the cake was I am so beyond thrilled at how this came out. I really don't often ask for perfection but with how this came out it's really right up there being perfect. If I find any better photos I will absolutely update this post with them. The venue itself was an absolute disaster but it was great having all those excessive blueberries everywhere it really made a mess and watching them clean it all up later was just fantastic. I'm not even sure if it's on their regular menu but I asked them to do a lemon cake with a blueberry compote inside (I have no idea what that means but my now wife had me asking for that) and the flavors and taste of the cake were just beyond extraordinary. They also made and brought a smaller mint chocolate cake to accommodate some allergies we had in the family and one bite my breath was smelling good all night! Thank you so much for everything I will definitely have you guys doing more in the future!”

“Shannon is the absolute BEST ! To start off- she is a wonderful and kind person, and made this whole experience a huge treat. The consultation and tasting were easy to schedule and very informative. She always addressed our questions or concerns in a timely and professional manner. Details on how to store and preserve our cake were provided, along with great communication with our venue. Although we went for a classic almond cake with raspberry filling, she has a huge selection of fun and unique flavors. Shannon got our vision right EXACTLY ! And of course- our cake was stunning AND delicious. Thank you Shannon !”

“Going with The Naked Cupcake for our wedding day was a no-brainer. We compared several different places and none of them hit the mark like The Naked Cupcake did. To start, they offer the option of a virtual consultation for the tasting, which makes it super easy and convenient for busy people like my husband and I. You get to pick out 4 different combinations to taste for cupcakes, pick them up, and then schedule a virtual consultation that works for your schedule. After that, it was smooth sailing. I told Alison exactly what I was looking for and she delivered! She was so easy to talk to, flexible to get us what we wanted, and quick! Plus, she was very on top of things making sure our venue got their insurance, communicating with our wedding planner, etc. My husband and I were so happy we went with them. We loved our wedding cake, all the flavors from the tasting were so good we went with pretty much all of them, and they were so kind to leave us a sweet handwritten card with a mini cake for my husband and I to take home (we decided to freeze it and have it on our one year anniversary :)). Bermarie was so helpful in determining how much cake we needed and worked with us to make sure we fit everything we wanted into our budget. We selected delivery, and Blush Whisk made sure our cake was at the venue in the appropriate place and time despite some lack of communication from our wedding venue. They went out of their way to create a custom combo for us, and of course, the cake tasted so so good! We got so many compliments! We showed Blush Whisk photos on Pinterest of what we wanted, and they copied it exactly. We ordered a geode cake since our venue was the Perot Museum of Nature & Science, and it was so beautiful! We could not be more grateful for the services provided!! Thank you Bermarie, you're so talented, and we can't wait to stop by the shop when we're back in the DFW area! We will definitely be recommending Blush Whisk to everyone we know getting married soon!”

“We hired Cakes by Stephanie for our wedding cake that we planned to cut, along with the sheet cake for our guests and they did not disappointment! Very professional and amazing tasting. They did the exact design of our wedding cake which looked marvelous and tasted amazing too. I loved that they had sugar-free options, so our wedding cake was sugar-free along with a regular sheet cake for guests. Overall, I would definitely come to them again for our cake because both tasted amazing.”
