How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“TL;DR - there is plenty of space, the acoustics are awesome, the amenities are plenty and of great quality, and the staff is very friendly and helpful! They have some rules due to the historic nature of the building, but they weren't a problem and the owners will help you figure things out. We rented this space for our wedding. We chose it for a few reasons: -it's very spacious, but the acoustics were still incredible -it's in the middle of town -hotels are a short drive away, plenty of rides available -there is a small lift for those with mobility issues (we had a couple) -the facilities were all clean and new -it is climate-controlled They also supply plenty of chairs and tables, and offer a handful of lighting options (at additional cost) that really make the space feel comfy and welcoming. It's worth noting that Olio is based in a historic building, so there are rules in place to protect the walls, floors, and everything overhead. We didn't find the rules to be a problem, and the owner, Sarah, was very communicative and happy to work with us to satisfy both their rules and our vision. It is also worth noting that, for catering, Olio has a catalog of their own partnered/approved vendors (all full-service) that are trained to work within the rules of the venue. Caterers were available at multiple price points and a variety of cuisines to give plenty of options for people. There is an option to bring in other vendors, but at additional cost due to training. We went with Vinwood Caterers (from their catalog) for our wedding, and were absolutely blown away with the quality of their food and service. Back to the venue itself... When looking online, the pictures were all stunning, but the idea of getting married in a room with concrete walls was admittedly a little off-putting. Once we visited in person, though, we immediately fell in love with it. The nice view of Main Street through the windows and the natural lighting (and later the market lighting and up-lighting) really make the place feel more warm and welcoming than you might expect. There was virtually zero echo in there despite it being so big and open, and the patterning of the concrete is weirdly charming in person, probably thanks to the warm lighting. Pair that with good A/C in the summer and the other things listed above, and we were sold! On the big day, it all paid off and the space felt just as warm and welcoming as we'd hoped. Full-service catering was expensive, but they took care of almost literally everything - including setting up, moving, and breaking down furniture throughout the event - and still provided top notch food and drink. Well worth the cost to not stress about managing all the furniture ourselves and getting out on time. The venue's staff were there to make sure everything was working and kept us informed of things before and during the event. Overall - very glad we went with Olio despite the restrictions. Well worth the time and money for probably the best day of our lives yet!”

He informed us immediately when another couple was interested on the date we were looking at and gave us ample time to lock it in. Lindsey and Cami were our main point of contact after signing the contract, they provide you a welcome kit with all the info you'll need (such as vendor insurance and how to acquire it, parking, rental they can provide, layout guidelines etc.) and a checklist along with their due dates for everything they'll need from you. They even have a preferred vendor list in the welcome kit which is going to help you LOADS in wedding planning. Going with one of their preferred caterers is highly recommended. Oh and their bar? 1000/10 delicious drinks. We still think about the espresso martini. seriously. The value for money is incredible considering everything you'll get and zero hidden fees! We're absolutely in love with this venue. It made our special day even more magical because of its natural charm and the Oviatt team was so lovely to work with. “Wedding venue shopping is a lot on a couple. It takes time and energy and can be very stressful. However, when we say we found the perfect place we mean it. Donauschwaben’s was one of our venue choices coming highly recommended by our friends and family already. We reached out through their website and within no time we got an immediate response from the Christine, Event/ Wedding planner to set up a meeting together. She is not only extremely kind, but had everything organized so beautifully to choose from it was a no-brainer to choose this venue. She even recommended our DJ who had played a previous wedding there who was incredible. All communication leading up to our big day was efficient and layed out easily for us to understand. Our checks were deposited in a timely manner by the venue, our tasting was so nice and so delicious. The no pressure wedding planning was worth every penny spent. Our wedding day was so special and so beautiful from start to finish from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to our lovely reception to follow. Not only was Christine present the day of, but the staff was also on their A game all night long. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and kind, we felt like royalty. We both highly recommend this venue and if you do, definitely get the Schnitzel, Prost! “From the moment we stepped foot at The Wheeler House, we knew this was where we wanted to get married. There's something to offer every couple, from the historic house with beautiful wrap-around porches and a pool table for the groomsmen, to the outdoor ceremony space with newly installed turf and tall trees, to the breathtaking barn with high rafters and draping. The staff is professional and our coordinator, Emma, went above and beyond to make sure our day went off seamlessly. It's a common misconception that you sacrifice quality with an all inclusive option but that couldn't be farther from the truth with The Wheeler House. We will be recommending this venue along with our family & friends over and over again. Separately, our wedding party stayed at The Wheeler House Cottages for our entire wedding weekend and it made our experience so much more enjoyable, continuing the celebrations after the wedding and having everyone in one place for ease. “Flagstaff House was incredible! They were such a great venue. Annie was our event planner, and she was perfect - professional, friendly, and so helpful helping everything run smoothly day of. The food was INCREDIBLE - each of the dishes were delicious and the cake was just as beautiful as it was delicious. It ended up being a surprisingly budget friendly option as well - although the price for food is higher than most places, the fact that the restaurant provided everything needed for the lunch including custom menus, the cake, and all of the linens/chairs/tables/table numbers/etc. meant that the total price ended up being a great value.”

“We got married at the Red Barn in June 2025 and can't say enough good things about the wedding and the Red Barn staff. At every interaction, they went above and beyond for us. The venue is absolutely stunning and I loved that there were so many options for taking photos. We also stayed at the Stage House Inn and did our rehearsal lunch there, which made the whole experience easy and seamless for ourselves and guests. One thing future bride/grooms will understand is how overwhelming starting wedding planning can be, and how hard it is to figure out pricing for all your vendors. I've heard horror stories from girlfriends on hidden fees and surprise costs. The Red Barn was so transparent on costs from the start, which was a huge differentiator for me. We worked with Alex and Colleen and they were both fantastic- so organized and communicative. As someone who didn't have a dedicated planner, it was invaluable to have Colleen available to help plan our day. Colleen was on top of my 10,000 emailed questions and put me at ease in the days leading up to the wedding. Everything went so well, our guests had a great time and we owe that to the Red Barn and the staff! Big shout out to Moe as well who made sure the groom and I were well fed and always had a cocktail in hand (and a smile on our faces!). “HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! Everything is in house- catering, bar, table set up, etc. and it is so helpful to not have to worry about those things. They also let you bring in your own decorations or use the ones they have available. The staff is so amazing! Maddison was my venue coordinator who answered all of my questions and was excellent with assisting with the planning and making sure everything was set for our wedding day! I also had an event coordinator who spent the day with us to make sure everything was running smoothly. They did have two weddings that day so having an event coordinator who could speak with the other coordinator was a huge bonus. Also the food- to die for! It was soooo good and was definitely a favorite for my guests. Not to mention the views! Nazareth has so many spots inside and outside that make the most beautiful wedding photos! “I chose ICC for my bridal shower venue because the venue is absolutely gorgeous! I loved the large venue spaces, beautiful landscapes through the windows, and overall airy feel! We ended up picking the Lyons room because it was spacious but not overwhelming. The natural lighting was gorgeous. Everything from the initial tour to the final product was gorgeous.
